Variables

I left the company and am no longer an employee.

For about a month, on top of company work, I'd been moving under the surface — preparing for independence, meeting all kinds of people.
All sorts of things happened; it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call them the busiest days of my life.

Looking back, there really were too many variables until now.
From here on, worrying about what I can't control should drop a lot.
How independence will go is still ahead — but even at this stage I feel I've gotten an environment and work ahead that are very close to the ideal.

I was truly lucky too: the most important question — whether I can eat — looks like it may have a path, and the work itself is what I wanted to do, with wonderful people I can work with.

Going independent isn't amazing in itself at all.
I'm only a sole proprietor — but moving around these past weeks showed me again that I really wasn't cut out to be a salaryman.
I don't think I'll go back to being one.

Once I decided to go independent, I changed everything in my environment at once.
I could redefine what I really wanted to do and who I really wanted to be involved with.

Going forward, being independent will bring all kinds of new variables — but the range I can control should grow compared with before.
Variables that clearly can't be controlled shrink a lot.
That there used to be far too many of those — I felt painfully in this past month.

What makes me happiest now is being able to focus only on improving the work itself.
I'd been very troubled these past few months, so the current situation makes me glad from the bottom of my heart. Looks like I can enjoy this benefit for a while.

This got very abstract, but that's it for this time.
I'll keep doing my best not to starve.
