Out of nowhere at year-end, I got a message from a client I used to coach.
It had been about a year, and I was startled the moment I saw the notification.
I hadn't heard much about how things had gone since then, so I opened the message wondering what it was about.
Along with year-end greetings, it was full of thanks.
Thanks to the support I'd provided, they said, they were living a fulfilling life now. When we'd started, they'd felt hopeless about their own life — but afterward they changed jobs, and thanks to me, they said, they'd been able to change their life in a big way.
I was moved beyond words. For about ten minutes I just sat there blank — and I really started crying.
I was so happy I immediately went around telling trusted friends, "Someone said this to me!"
This year I took on all kinds of challenges. Mostly failures. I caused trouble for a lot of people.
Even so, being told clearly that a service I provided had changed someone's life made me truly happy.
After that, I spent about thirty minutes writing a thank-you reply of around a thousand characters and sent it.
More than anything, who they are today is thanks to their own effort. Still, I'm glad I could be part of the spark.
I already have a business direction for next year, but reading that message made me feel it all over again: a service that can help turn someone's life around is truly a good thing.
That message reminded me of it.
Next year, I'll try launching a new, meaningful service I can pour that kind of passion into.
Thank you for this year.
